Cyndie Shaffstall

Cyndie Shaffstall has been a member of the publishing and print industries for more than three decades. Her career spans many interests, specialties, and job verticals, but first and foremost, she is an entrepreneur.

In 1991 Cyndie Shaffstall was a corporate trainer for companies looking to upgrade their traditional typesetting and pre-press departments to a Mac-based workflow. Her clients at that time included reputable in-house and commercial publishers such as United Airlines and the Clarinda Company.

In 1992, she self-published her first book, QuarkXPress: Making the Most of Your Negative Experiences, which was later purchased by Peachpit Publishing. She also contributed to a number of other titles for Que Publishing.

Functioning primarily as an author and corporate trainer, Shaffstall founded The World-wide Power Company, LLC, or ThePowerCo, as it was known, in 1995 and in 1998 acquired the assets of XChange US and their publication, X-Ray Magazine. The companies were later merged to form ThePowerXChange, LLC and to become the world’s largest distributor of extensions technology.

Shaffstall resurrected X-Ray Magazine as a vehicle for the launch of QuarkXPress® 7 and in 2006, the bi-monthly printed issues were discontinued and X-Ray Magazine was established as an online only publication, though occasional printed special editions were published.

With consideration for her position in the extensions-technology industry, Shaffstall contracted with Quark, Inc., in 2004 to resurrect their XTensions® developer program and later assumed the helm of the entire QuarkAlliance™ program. Shaffstall joined Quark as worldwide director of the QuarkAlliance program in 2007 and in 2009 joined the Quark Promote team to contribute her printing experience to Quark’s first web-to-print SaaS model. During her tenure at Quark she published two books: QuarkXPress 8: production tricks and experts’ tips and Small-business Guide to Winning at Web Marketing.

In 2009, Shaffstall sold ThePowerXChange.com (domain name) and in 2010 sold X-Ray Magazine. These release of these projects paved the way for the launch of Spider Trainers, a company founded to parlay the power of search engines in order to create optimized professional visibility for the executive and entrepreneur and other electronic-promotion activities.

In 2011, Shaffstall left the employ of Quark to join Spider Trainers full time and to launch two new products: Charity Golf Network and Today’s POV. She is also an inventor and patent holder for Sassy Strappings and the programmer behind data2date and Serial-number Tracker.
